In response to 2020’s global coronavirus pandemic, on Saturday 14 March 2020, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that all travellers entering New Zealand must self-isolate for a period of 14 days. This is among the strictest border control in the world in the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic.

The restriction will take effect on midnight Sunday 15 March 2020 and it will apply to all travellers, including New Zealand citizens and residents. The only exception will apply to travellers coming from the Pacific Islands (unless if they exhibit Covid-19 symptoms).

This restriction will be updated again at the end of March. We urge all travellers to New Zealand to take note.
